Seeds
 by Larry Mancini

“Don’t be misled…You will always reap what you sow!” (Galatians 6:7 NLT)

One year when we were young my brother and I planted watermelon seeds (or so we thought). The seeds came in a plain envelope from Agway and we buried them in the ground. In time, seedlings came up. Vines grew, flowers appeared, and then fruit. We were on our way! One day our dad pointed out to us that watermelons are not pear-shaped. What we had thought were watermelon seeds turned out to be butternut squash seeds. We ate squash all winter and laughed about it as we did. The truth is what you plant you will reap. How much you plant will determine the size of your harvest. The key is not to become weary while you wait. In due season there will be a harvest. It is a natural law. The spiritual law is just as true. Here is what it teaches: Keep on serving, loving, praying, caring and giving. Planting these seeds results in a wonderful harvest! Just wait and see!

Heavenly Father, Friday is nearly here again—the end of another week. I need to be reminded to be patient. There are times I feel like quitting. There are times when there are no visible results to show for my labor. Help me to hold onto your promises. Help to believe your Word. Help to keep going. A great harvest is in the making. I believe I will see fruit someday. Thank you, Jesus, for your promises! Amen.
