Help Is On the Way

Tom Barnard

“I am holding you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God.

And I say to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I am here to help you.”

(Isaiah 41:13 NLT)

“I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.

Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love

in wonderful ways.”

(Psalm 17:6, 7 NLT)

“Do not look forward to the changes and chances of this life in fear; rather look to them with full hope that, as they arise, God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. He has kept you hitherto…and He will lead you safely through all things; and, when you cannot stand, He will bear you in His arms. Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow, and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.”

(Francis de Sales: 1567-1622)

Heavenly Father, I pray today for freedom from anxiety. Today I have more questions than answers. I believe you are holding me close and saying to me what you said through Isaiah, “Do not be afraid. I am here to help you.” I can’t begin to tell you how comforting those words are to me right now. So, I surrender my fears to you. You have sustained me in the past, and I believe you are sustaining me now. I pray with David, “Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.” Amen.
