Personal Prayer Request Page

As prayers are answered, and the immediate crisis situation is over, the original request for prayer will be moved from this active page to the Prayer Request Archive page where the original request and updates may be revisited as often as you wish. Prayer is still desirable even though a prayer request is moved to the archives.

Prayer List:

(Note: Many of the prayer requests on the Prayer Request Page are of a long-term nature. Because the Prayer Request Page was becoming too long to comfortably navigate, some of the long-term prayer requests have been moved to the Prayer Request Archives Page. In the archives you will be able to view the original prayer request along with all the updates for that prayer request in chronological order. Please visit this page often and remember to continue praying for those still in need of prayer.)

Karen. (11/20/09)

We had gotten a phone call from Dale last week saying Cathy had been having shoulder pain which she could not stop, she had gone to the doctor and after many tests and several doctors a surgeon said it appeared she had cancer in one of the lobes of her left lung.

Surgery was today, but when they opened her up they found the cancer was wrapped around her heart, and in other vital areas.  They could do nothing except close her up and hope that once she recovers from this operation she will be able to use chemo or radiation! It was NOT the news they were expecting at all.

Then tonight I got this email from Dale, and I wanted to share this so you would know how to pray for them.

Dale is alone because his children all have little ones and are not free to come (and it is not the time or place for toddlers!).

Thank you for joining your prayers with us.  God is a miracle worker and they need Him so badly right now.

Love, Karen

(Note: Dale and Cathy are Karen's brother and sister-in-law. Dale is the son of Violet Weeks and the late Pastor James Weeks—founder of the EMFS.)

Don & Linda. (12/29/09)

Please add our son, Alan, to the prayer list.  He has been diagnosed with cancer.  We are awaiting test results to determine primary source of origin so the doctors will know how to treat it.

Thanks,  Don and Linda

Update on Alan: (02/22/10)

Family has advised that Alan is not doing well and they covet your continued prayers.

Sandy. (02/15/10)

A prayer request for Crystal and her family.  Her baby boy, Brayden Leroy  just turned 1 on January 3  and was found dead in his crib this morning.  He was with his father, who is divorced from Crystal.  Crystal also has a 5 year old son and a 2-1/2 year old daughter.  Please pray that the whole family gets through this. Nothing is more tragic than losing a child, especially a child who is a baby.

Sandy. (04/21/10)

Hank, please have people pray for my grandson Tanner.  He has been depressed and has run away from home.  Please pray God's protection on him.

Friends and Family,

Last Saturday Tom stumbled while doing some yard work out back at the two planters near our pond, losing his balance. His right elbow struck the concrete floor of the dock and jammed his shoulder. An MRI yesterday confirmed that he suffered a torn rotator cuff that will require surgery. Other than a couple of large bruises, he suffered no other injuries—except to his pride, of course. A day and time for the surgery is pending, but it will be within the next two weeks. Tom met with an orthopedic surgeon today, and he said the severity of the multiple tears leaves us with no choice other than surgery. So, Tom's gardening days are over (as if they ever had a beginning). As soon as a date for surgery is scheduled, we'll get back to you. It looks like our summer travel plans are simplified.

Since Tom's weekly writings require the use of both of his hands (as opposed to some who use the two-finger system), he will probably inform his readers that he will be taking a medical leave from e-publishing. When he is ready to write again after surgery, you will hear from him. Please include him (and me) in your prayers. Tom and I are about to become very close and personal. The surgeon used the expression, "12 weeks," but he didn't explain fully what he meant. We think we know.

Update on Tom. (05/23/10)

Family and Friends,

I have been cleared for rotator cuff surgery. It is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning, May 28, at OSSO Healthcare, 6205 N. Santa Fe, Suite #100.  Dr. Calvin Johnson is the surgeon. It will be day surgery. Therapy will begin the following Tuesday. Madelyn and I are pleased that they are moving forward with the surgery in a timely manner. I will take a brief sabbatical from writing and teaching until I recover the complete use of my right arm. Your prayers will be appreciated.

New Prayer Request:

Jill. (06/07/10)

Please pray for Jill and her daughter Christy. The father of Nicolas is giving Christy trouble and is threatening to take her back to court over custody and Christy does not have the money to go to court. He wants to take Nicolas out of state and Christy is very fearful as any mother would be. Nicolas is only 4 and Christy is not comfortable with Nicolas going on a plane trip without her. Help us pray that God's favor will prevail.
